Sunset Photographic Session × × × × × × ×
Sunset Photographic Session

Sunset Photographic Session

Join us to learn how best to use your camera settings to get great shots of the sunset and the full moon in a double themed session. You will need to be resident on Rottnest Island as no accommodation is included.

Wadjemup (Rottnest Island) is ideally situated to view the sunset in the West and the rising full moon over the ocean to the East. We will set up for sunset near Garden Lake on the edge of the Settlement to add the opportunities for beautiful reflections especially if we have an evening with no wind. Often we can be disappointing with the colour when photographing sunset so we will look into how our camera settings can be used to enhance colour without the need to oversaturate images in post processing. We will then move to Thomson Bay to photograph the full moon over the ocean in the East.

A discount will be offered to participants of this session for the Dawn shoot and/or photographic day tour on March 19th

Photography the Dawn - Thompson Bay

Photography the Dawn - Thompson Bay

Join us to learn how to photograph the Rising Sun. You will discover the best settings to use to maximum depth of field and enhance the changing colours across the sky. You will learn how to compose the shot for the WOW factor.

Photography the Dawn can be a challenge as you are shooting straight into the rising Sun. We will explain the settings require to over come some of this issues and how to continue to change settings as the Sun rises to maximise the changing colour in the sky. Thompson Bay gives us some good foreground interest for our shoot.

You will need a camera with manual settings although some 'point and press camera do have settings which may do the trick. A tripod is also essential but we have some that can be hired for a small cost. We will give you further advise on what to bring and where to meet after booking.

This session is for those already staying on Rottnest Island as we are not including the cost of ferry or accommodation in the price of the session. The workshop is led by Anna-Mair Francis, a professional Photographer with many years of teaching people how to improve their photography.

Rottnest Astroscape and Long Exposure Photography Workshop

Rottnest Astroscape and Long Exposure Photography Workshop

Join us to learn how to take Astroscape and Star trail photography at Bathhurst Lighthouse on the amazing Rottnest Island. We will show you several ways to photograph the night sky including star trails and stacking images.

Looking at the stars we are challenged by how small we are on our little planet as each star is as big or bigger than our Sun.

Photographing the night sky can be a challenge so join us on this amazing opportunity to learn about the best settings to achieve a photograph that you can be proud of. We will also go through the correct settings to achieve a star trail using the Bathurst Lighthouse as a strong foreground interest.

You will need a camera with manual settings although some 'point and press camera do have a night sky setting which may do the trick. A tripod is also essential but we have some that can be hired for a small cost.   We will give you further advise on what to bring and where to meet after booking.

If the clouds are covering the stars making Astro impossible, we will instead teach you about long exposures, how to get that smoky water effect in the bay in front of Pinky's Beach and the Lighthouse or an ethereal look from clouds passing over the Light house. If we have time we will include some light painting.
